omg there are people who still watch them? asdfghjkgfsdg
wow she really said that? That’s really disheartening to know but on the other hand i’m honestly not surprised because you can unquestionably tell a lot of people who were in charge of these movies did not care nor have any respect for the source material. From Melissa Rosenberg’s atrocious script that did not retain a sliver of the heart from the books but instead she made everything so much more ridiculously cheesy than necessary, to many of the cringe-worthy acting/lines/moments you cannot believe there were actual grown ups in an editing room that approved of that stuff instead of going “we have to cut this out, it’s so kitsch it ruins the scene” etc. But I will always blame Catherine Hardwicke for the downfall because she was the one who set up the base for the film series and I feel like she understood NOTHING of the book’s spirit. She did not translate that calm, magic, romantic feeling at all (and this series is first and foremost a paranormal romance!). Instead she was so fixated on making Twilight some “hip & sexy” thing in order to appeal to a broader audience and by doing that she stripped all of the genuine soul from the books away. It was all downhill from there. Then the movies became a colossal commercial success and that’s when they just didn’t give a damn about the source material and milked this cash cow in any way they could. Nobody cared, then the over-popularity with the insane fans & the backlash ensued which officially turned twilight into a complete joke and not even the cast took it seriously anymore if they ever did (I’m especially looking at you Rob).
There’s no way you can make a good movie (or any work at all tbh) if you don’t care about what you’re doing and have little to no respect for it. It’s so shitty because they treated the YA audience like a bunch of idiots who you could just throw a bone at them and they’d be easily satisfied. No, we’re not [all?] brainless hormone-driven lowest common dominator audiences. We deserved a good adaption that might have even tweaked some details in order to improve the source instead of completely destroying it. The books might be flawed as hell with tons of problematic aspects, but the movies took whatever little charming redeeming quality it had and brutally stomped on it. You know how much problematic fiction there is out there? and yet they don’t all get treated with nearly as much disdain and derision as the cast & crew did with Twilight. Really disrespectful, I tell you.

we’re very aware of how flawless this blog is
jk, we seriously appreciate each and every compliment we get. When I started this blog a little over 4 years ago I didn’t think it would be where it is today nor get this amount of love either. I mean, we’re a nearly extinct part of a fandom that has gone pretty quiet for a few years now. We’re really grateful so many of you guys are sticking around with us and still wanna get lost into this side of the twilight series. You guys keep us going ♥ Thank you!
