"can you describe how the fandom was back in 2007? sorry if my ask is gonna get you emotional omg i just really wanna know because i wasnt a fan back then."

— asked by Anonymous
It was a lot simpler, lemme tell you.
Twilight was a bestseller at this point, but it wasn’t nearly as exposed as it is today or was in the following year, 2008. And therefore it wasn’t ridiculed. You got by being a Twilight fan — and it was a joy. The fandom had a very tight knit, intimate atmosphere. It made you dreamy, like you were in Forks. There were ~Edward Cullen is my ride jokes and what have you. Santa hats photoshopped onto Gaspard Ulliel. People were giddy whenever graphic makers posted new dream team stuff. There were discussions, meta. We all gushed together. It was just really, really nice to be part of this small community. The most wank was generated from Edward vs Jacob “discussions” aka fights because no fandom plays nice at all times, obviously, and love triangles will inspire such squabbles.
You know how people will romanticize how things were before they got “noticed” until they realize the fandom pulled the same shit back then? That wasn’t the deal with Twilight, because frankly the shit didn’t really get brought in until the movies and Breaking Dawn were released. The movies being introduced was bad, but BD was ultimately the breaking point. There was no going back from that. The fandom would never recover.

Maybe this will help you understand why dream teamers get so nostalgic sometimes. :)
