Let’s take this time to reflect on who made our fandom what it is today… (aka actors who had no idea they were edward cullen or bella swan and became famous for it)

Chapter One: The Evolution of Edward Cullen

Probably the most recognized ‘Edward’ pre-Gaspard. Before the Twilight-explosion-of-07, Hayden was the Edward to your Bella.

Stephenie Meyer’s (AKA, the author) personal Edward. He was in for a while, popping up on fanmixes and icons… until…

Fig 3. Gaspard Ulliel
Famous for being Hannibal Lecter… and Edward Cullen. No doubt thirteen year old girls only know his name because of a little book called Twilight. Even though Gaspard was French, ‘too old’ for the role (SM’s words, not mine!) he still continued to be THE Edward Cullen of 2007. Go Gaspard.

Stephenie started up this one, too. A popular Edward among fanvidders and ‘newbie’ Twilighters, he reigned the youtube-Twilight-kingdom until rumours started circulating about *gasp* official casting….

Ah, yes, the ‘rumoured’ Edward Cullen. The actor even had photos of himself labelled ‘Twilight’ on his myspace page. Colton also shared an odd resemblance to Fig. 2 (Henry Cavill). He didn’t last long…

ALSO KNOW AS THE DAY THE FANDOM EXPLODED. Hardly any of us saw this coming. I know I didn’t. What’s more? He even reads the books.


Crowd Favourite: Gaspard Ulliel.
Honourable Mention: Hayden Christensen. The Edward Cullen of pre-Twilight-fame.
E for Effort: Colton Haynes. I think his reign as Edward lasted only a matter of days? Correct me if I’m wrong.
